Saltire Classic Rally Postponed
POSTPONEMENT OF EDRADOUR SALTIRE CLASSIC RALLY
After careful consideration we have no alternative other than to postpone the Edradour Saltire Classic Rally.
A review of the route and test venues this morning (Friday) has confirmed that it is not possible to either traverse the route or access the tests safely.
Most of the route is reduced to the width of a snowplough blade width, and although the surface is exposed on A roads, the B & C roads are passible only with extreme caution or 4 wheel drive.
The Test venues are still under a significant depth of snow. It is thawing reasonably quickly, but not quickly enough and only one or two degrees of temperature reduction will see it freeze.
Access to Kenmore is still very difficult. Some principal roads further south and north are still only passable with care and not suitable for those with trailers.
We trust you understand our difficult position. Safety of competitors, marshals, general public and the reputation of the sport must come first.
Obviously as an organising team we have found this decision easy to make on technical matters but extremley difficult in our hearts, and are very dissapointed.
We will update you with information on a new date as soon as practicable.
Negotiations with the Hotel are ongoing with regard to deposits. If you still intend to go to the hotel please let them know.
Sunday will ko doubt be sunny and warm, but it wont have been enough to resolve the issues the weather has provided us with.
Cheers
Colin
